PEX Fittings

PEX Fittings: an overview

There are two types of PEX fittings available which are categorised as follows:

  • Easy: Crimp style
  • Even easier: Slide on style

I purchase PEX Fittings when I need to make PEX-PEX Connections, whether that is to connect PEX to a manifold or to connect PEX to another material. See below for further information which you may find helpful:

Rifeng Crimp Fittings

Rifeng Brass Couplings make straight PEX-to-PEX connections for PEX tubing. These PEX fittings can be used with either the stainless steel clamping system or the copper crimp ring system.

PEX Fittings

SharkBite push-fit fittings

I use SharkBite push-fit fittings when I need to connect to PEX, copper pipe, or CPVC as quickly as possible, but you need to be aware that these fittings aren’t compatible with PEX-AL-PEX tubing. SharkBite fittings are made of brass, which means they are strong and corrosion resistant. They can be disassembled using a disconnect tool if I need to make a repair. But while they are more expensive compared to standard fittings, they don’t need specialist tools for installation.

PolyAlloy PEX Crimp Fittings

PEX Crimp fittings give me a reliable and economical solution when connecting PEX piping.

John Guest Push-Fit Fittings

John Guest push-fit fittings are available in Speedfit, brass, and the standard polypropylene. Speedfit is an easy to use, plastic push-fit system which is suitable for plumbing hot and cold water services as well as heating applications. They come with a flexible piping system which significantly reduces installation time. I also don’t need specialist tools to work with them. They can be de-mounted if needed, are lead free, and lower the risk of scale build-up. Many tests have shown Speedfit products are able to withstand temperatures and pressures far in excess of usual working conditions.

ProPEX Expander Fittings

ProPEX Brass Elbows allow me to make tight 90-degree connections for PEX tubing in both supply and return mains. These PEX Fittings, however, do require the ProPEX Tool and then you will need to buy ProPEX Rings separately.

 PEX Press Fittings

PEX Press fittings come complete with a factory-attached stainless steel sleeve and will have been tested and listed as suitable for use in potable water applications, radiant systems and residential fire protection installations.

Compression Fittings

These include PEX Compression Couplings & Adapters, WIPEX Large Compression Fittings and Watts Quick-Connect Fittings.
